Dev Sanyal is Group Vice President and Group Treasurer of BP plc. He is Chairman of BP Investment Management Ltd and serves on a number of Group company boards.

After his initial education in India, he obtained a Master’s degree in economics and politics from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University in cooperation with Harvard University, where he was a Joan M. Gillespie Scholar.

Dev Sanyal joined the BP Group in 1989 and has held a variety of positions globally. After serving in London, Athens, Istanbul, Vienna, Singapore and Dubai, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer, BP Eastern Mediterranean Fuels, based in Athens in 1999. In March 2002, he moved to London as Chief of Staff of BP’s worldwide downstream businesses. In November 2003, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Air BP, the global aviation fuels, lubricants and trading business of BP. In June 2006, he was appointed Head of the Group Chief Executive’s Office.

He was named to his current role in July 2007. He was Chairman, Arco Aluminium, Inc from August 2007 until July 2011 and is currently on the board of the Career Academy Foundation, an educational not-for-profit organisation.
