After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Martyn started his treasury career in 1987 with Grand Metropolitan. He then worked in treasury and tax roles with Kingfisher and Delta plc before joining Dyson in 2001. He is a Fellow of the ACT, and a Council member.

Dyson invents, develops and sells innovative domestic appliances (vacuum cleaners, fans and heaters) and commercial hand-dryers.  The group is private and owned by its founder and Chief Engineer, Sir James Dyson. The group headquarters is in the town of Malmesbury in the west of England, which is also its principal research and development centre. It is a global business, with its manufacturing operations in Malaysia and Singapore and sales companies around the world.  Its latest product, the revolutionary Dyson Hot™ fan heater, was launched in September 2011.
