Stefano started his career in 1988, joining the DCM and Risk Management Departmentof ALITALIA. In 1992, he moved to banking and joined COFIRI SIM as Head of Customer Desk, in charge of origination, structuring and negotiation of "derivatives" products for Corporate Clients (Industrial Companies, Banks, Financial Companies, Municipalities and Local Bodies). In 2000, he then moved to COFIRI as Head of Sales. In 2003, Stefano thought it was time to “go back to fundamentals” and decides to enter in Ferrovie dello Stato S.p.A. as Head of Financial Markets to be subsequently designated as Head of Finance in 2008.
Corporate Profile
Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group (“FS Group”) revolves around the core business of railway transportation and the relative infrastructure. Each activity undertaken within the FS Group, irrespective of its size, is complimentary to the railway system. As of 31st December 2010, the FS Group exceeded the threshold of Euro 8 billion of Operating Revenues on a consolidated basis, reaching an EBITDA of Euro 1,66 billion while total Net Invested Capital amounted to Euro 46,6 billion and Shareholders’ Equity to Euro 36,5 billion. By the same date FS Group had 80,000 employees. The current structure of FS Group consists of a Holding Company (namely FERROVIE DELLO STATO ITALIANE S.p.A.) owning many operating companies, the most important being:
- RFI S.p.A. (i.e. the owner of the whole national railway infrastructure, including the High Speed/High Capacity network);
- TRENITALIA S.p.A. (i.e. the main railway transportation company in Italy for passengers and goods);
- GRANDI STAZIONI S.p.A.
